Rampayoh Building
Primary 1, 2 & 3
Rampayoh is designed to meet the needs of students aged 4-7 years. It is organised into three sections, each focussing on the specific needs for each age group, P1 (aged 4-5 years), P2 (aged 5-6 years) and P3 (aged 6-7 years).
Learning on Rampayoh allows children to access the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) for P1, English and Mathematics Curriculum of England and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for all other subjects. Children have specialist teachers for Music, PE and Digital Education (DE). They also have a thirty minute swimming lesson with qualified coaches at the nearby Panaga Club. We offer a well balanced curriculum with opportunities for children to excel academically and creatively through Milepost Concerts, Challenge Days, Assembly presentations and Sports Days. Further details on the academic content of P1, P2 and P3 can be found in the Year Group Curriculum Outline.
All classes are grouped together in Year Group blocks. Both P1 and P2 have large outdoor learning spaces with direct access from the classrooms. Our on-site facilities include a large PE Hall (which is also used for Rampayoh Assemblies and other events), a Digital Education Lab, a Dance and Drama Studio with spring bound flooring and floor to ceiling mirrors and a Library with soft furnishings that make a relaxing place to inspire reading or simply enjoy a good book.
There are between two and four classes in each Year Group with class sizes averaging from 15 to 22 pupils.
The school day starts at 7.40am with school staff on duty from 7.30am. Children can also be dropped off by car from 7.30 onward. Morning break time is from 9.00am - 9.30am. We encourage parents to pack healthy snacks.
Children continue learning throughout the morning before stopping for a longer, lunchtime break from 11.30am-12.20pm. The school day ends at 2.05pm.
Children are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school and drink at regular intervals during the day to ensure they stay hydrated. In addition children must wear sun hats. It is recommended that sunscreen and insect repellent are applied at home.
We have a strong academic focus on Reading, Writing and Mathematics from Primary 1 onwards, ensuring that our children have a solid foundation on which to build. Children's achievement at the end of Milepost One (Primary 3) is in line with current UK expectations.
Play is a strong feature at Rampayoh, to complement the academic focus and teacher-directed learning that takes place. This allows important social skills and oral language development to be catered for, meeting the needs of our student age group.
The extensive playground areas on the Rampayoh site allow children to access a whole host of activities. Our play areas include a large playing field, climbing frames, bike track, sandpits, parallel ropes course, rock climbing wall, water play, mud kitchens and a den building.
Learning opportunities beyond the classroom focus on the locality of Brunei. Ranging from local visits in P1 and P2, such as Seria market, a fire station, Anduki Airfield and Oil and Gas Discovery Centre, to places further afield in P3 such as Jerudong Park, Up Climbing Centre and Brunei International Airport.
Learning extends further into our local community where students in each year group work collaboratively to engage in activities that support the local community and broaden our children's view of how they can become active citizens that contribute positively to their world.
Children in P2 and P3 can participate in weekly after school activities (ASAs) which are run by school staff. ASAs take place on Thursdays until 3pm.
